What is the ideal business venture to start to escape a job that no longer excites, spend more time with family and friends and become financially self-reliant?

If you have found yourself here because you want to build your own career and regain a passion for what you do, become financially self-reliant, and you LOVE the idea of having more time for friends and family, then this could well be exactly what you’re looking for.

More and more people are looking for a realistic way to start a business while still working the day job, and the main thing people in this situation want to know- is it realistic to replace their income before leaving their job to focus on the business full time.

I am proof that it is absolutely realistic and is getting even more so in today’s ever digital world. I have recently begun the journey to becoming an online business owner. I am doing all this whilst working 60+ hours as a primary teacher.

I have been thinking about creating my own business for a number of years – but an excuse always got in the way- ‘I haven’t the time’, ‘What if it doesn’t work? ‘I haven’t the relevant skills’.

“If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.” Jim Rohn.

What kind of business can you run part-time?

Good question! Something that you believe in and feel confident providing. It needs to be a product/service that you can keep on selling week after week, month after month without spending a lot of your time on customer service, support and transactions. The last thing you want after 60+ hours of work is to come home and have to deliver whatever it is that you’re selling. Author, Robert Kiyosaki recommends you start with anything that is product-driven and easy to fulfil on.

Affiliate Marketing

What business models can work around your job?

Affiliate marketing is a great place to start. This is where you sell other businesses products and earn a commission- without having to worry about any fulfilment or delivery. If you’re an affiliate, you can sell unlimited amounts of product, many times over, 24/7, 365 days a year. As you grow your sales, you grow your income whether you are at work, sleeping or on holiday.

E-Commerce (selling)

Another option that you could consider is selling physical products with an E-commerce business. You do not need to reinvent the wheel, you can order existing products in bulk at a fraction of the cost and then set up a sales system.

Opportunities like Amazon FBA will do the majority of the work for you. They will process payments from your customers and deal with packaging, distributing and customer service. Meanwhile you can concentrate on setting up marketing and ad campaigns to make the sales happen- which can be easily done around your job in just one or two hours a day.

How long will it take?

It can take from 2 days to 12 months or more to make your first 10 sales. It really depends upon the product(s) you have picked for the market at the current time- and your commitment to learning the digital skills you will need to succeed.
