Have you ever wondered how to support your child with the 11+ exam?

This was me in 2016.

My eldest was in year 6 at the local primary school. We lived in an area where the 11+ was used to select children for the local grammar school.

My husband and I wanted our children to have the opportunity to attend a grammar if they wished.

Hi, my name is Emma, both my children successfully completed the 11+ and attend the local grammar school. My eldest will begin A ‘Levels in September and my youngest will start studying for her GCSEs.

However back in 2016, I was not sure how to support my children despite the fact I was a qualified primary school teacher and had even sat the 11+ myself all those years ago!

I spent many hours researching what we needed to do to prepare for the exam, the methods we could use, the publications we might want and the resources we would need. I scoured the internet for hints and tips on how to support and prepare my child in learning the methods for sitting the papers.

I realised then that others may also be having similar thoughts and feelings- children thinking they are not clever enough or parents at a loss about how they can help, or if they can help at all?

I began creating my own resources as I tutored my children, and use them to this day in my 11+ tutoring sessions. These have served my tutees well with 86% now attending grammar schools.

The Ultimate Guide has all the essential information you could need to start the 11+ journey with your child. It has oodles of advice on when and how to start preparing as well as hints and tips on practice sessions, revision, and your child’s well-being.
